Drug Addiction in
Bangladesh
Mabrur Atiqi, Dhaka, 04 November: Drug addiction has become a great
threat for the people of Bangladesh. A large number of people especially the
young generation are addicted to drugs or opium-based products including
morphine, heroin, marijuana, cocaine, hashis, LSD, etc. Nowadays drug addicts
are found everywhere in the streets, in the parks, and even in the educational
institutions. The number of drug addicts is increasing day by day.
It
is known that most of them are get
addicted to drugs at their teenage. When they realize the consequences of drug
addiction, it is too late. They want to shirk off the habit, but they cannot.
When the drug addicts do not get money to buy drugs, they become ferocious.
They misbehave with their parents. To collect money for buying drugs, they get
involved in anti-social activities such as snatching, kidnapping, hijacking,
and committing robbery.
The final consequence of drug is very
devastating. It causes death by severe affliction and suffering. The parents,
the government, and the conscious citizens should come forward to take
initiatives with a view to putting an end to this problem.
