Inter
College Debate Competition Observed in Dhaka City College
Mabrur Atiqi, Dhaka, 30 October: This year Inter College Debate
Competition was held at Dhaka City College, Dhaka on 15 September, 2014. The
topic of the debate competition was 'Ways and Means to Eradicate Corruption
from Bangladesh'. About ten colleges of
the city participated in the competition. The function was presided over by the
Principal of the college.
There
were also three judges—one from the University of Dhaka, one from the
University of Jahangirnagar, and the other from the University of Rajshahi.
Professor Dr. Sirajul Islam Chowdhury from the University of Dhaka was the
chief judge on the occasion. Professor Dr. Khan Sarwar Murshid graced the
occasion as the chief guest.
The
students coming from various colleges were well prepared for the purpose and
charmed the audience to a great extent with their performance. The judges
themselves were also highly pleased with their logical presentation. However,
Dhaka College finally became champion, and Rumana Ahmed became the best
debator.
The chief judge delivered a brief speech
and pointed out the mistakes of the debaters. The chief guest gave away the
trophy to the champion team and other prizes to the debaters. He spoke highly
of all the debaters. From their logical arguments, many factors responsible for
corruption in Bangladesh came to limelight.
