Report - Damages and Causalities Caused by the Cyclone

Terrible Cyclone Blew Over Bhola District

Mabrur Atiqi, Bhola, 04 November: A terrible cyclone blew over Bhola yesterday and caused a serious havoc. The weather had been very hot for last two or three days. Yesterday afternoon the wind began to blow violently owing to depression on the Bay of Bengal. Suddenly the whole sky was covered with dark clouds. It was raining cats and dogs. The strong wind started to blow within a few minutes.

The violent cyclone blew away coastal houses and uprooted thousands of trees. Boats and launches capsized. It also damaged a number of houses seriously. As a result, many people became homeless. Tidal bores swept away many people, their cattle, houses, and other belongings. Most of the people of the villages took shelter in the cyclone shelter centers.

After the cyclone, the situation has become very terrible. Most of the people in the cyclone affected areas are suffering from scarcity of food, shelter, and clothes. The government has already taken various programmes to reduce the sufferings of the distressed people. Many NGOs have also extended their helping hands to the distressed people.

The people of the affected areas need more help to make up the losses caused by the cyclone and to start a new life.
